Karaoke = Reading!
If you want girls to read – put the words on a karaoke machine. They’ll attempt to read any word – no matter how many syllables – if it has a good beat and they can hold a microphone!
Look at how the girls follow the words on the screen… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mfeBMbMzJk (and the girls dancing on the sideline are fun, too!).
The girls here enjoy singing the chorus together… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ5nIofztw4 (this is only 15 seconds!).

Ms. Minnie = Obi-Wan Kenobe
At Girls Inc. of Omaha, we say that Ms. Minnie, our Director of Counseling, is the Obi-Wan Kenobe of reproductive health. In this class, she is dispelling myths about tampons. One girl asks, “Can’t a tampon get lost inside your body?” Another says, “I heard you will die if you use a tampon.” Ms. Minnie patiently gives the girls medically accurate information about their reproductive health.
