Honors Night
I think Honors Night was fantastic. It was bigger than ever and it was so nice to see all of the new faces being recognized for their achievement. And I think the message gets across. You could hear all of the girls ‘ooh’ing’ and ‘ahh’ing’ over the cash awards as they are announced. Girls are giving each other a high five and saying, “I’ll be up there with you next semester.” It is also great to see the little girls who have been saving – penny by penny! – get their rewards.

Floor, table, wall, desk…
We don’t mind where they do the homework, as long as it gets done!

Offense!
I liked playing football yesterday. I got a touchdown. I’m competitive. I was excited to get a TD.

Flag Football: Defensive Triumph
I grabbed a flag and kept the other team from scoring. I got behind a girl and she kept on going different ways and zig zagging. I just kept following. I was worried because the grass was slippery from the rain so it was hard to grab onto that flag. It was hard but it was fun. I got right up close and just grabbed it.

No Fear
My favorite part about camp was staying in the cabins. Most of the girls didn’t like the bugs. They got in our clothes and in some of the girls’ bags. Girls were screaming. I am not scared. Bugs are just part of nature.
I did jump off of the tower. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was scared when I stepped up to the edge of the tower and I was thinking “Oh my gosh what am I getting myself into?” but as soon as I stepped off it wasn’t scary any more. I thought about not doing it but then I saw all of the other girls do it and I saw their reactions. I am glad I did it.

The Subway
Corporate Camp provided me with many firsts, but I think the most memorable first was riding the subway. I thought that it was rather fun and exciting to ride the silver trains that sped past you providing a little relief from the stuffy atmosphere. I enjoyed the thrill of just barely getting in the car before the doors shut on you. I loved the quick jolt of its departure and the same with its rather speedy stop.
The only thing I didn’t like was the feeling of being surrounded by people in a cramped space with little room to even breathe, but even that had a little enjoyment to it.
I wish I had an amazing story of how my bag got snatched or that tons or rats scattered past me, but I don’t. The subway wasn’t anything like what I saw on T.V.
I have always thought of the Subway as a filthy place that you should never be caught alone in. It was actually a fun place where you see all kinds of people. It was a rather positive experience for me and hardly at all a negative one. It was one of the many great things that I experienced and will always remember from the week of Corporate Camp.
