Azuree’s Teacher Visits GIRLStart
Azuree’s teacher, Mrs. Orrick, came to visit Azure’s GIRLStart classroom to read aloud. She read Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum, Don’t Be Silly Mrs. Millie! and Cha Cha Chimps. Azuree’s guidance counselor, Ms. Glavic came to visit, too. She read Corduroy.
The girls loved having special visitors and look forward to a return visit, (And they LOVED doing the cha-cha when Mrs. Orrick read Cha Cha Chimps!)

Gorilla Cheese Sandwiches?
My favorite part was when Mrs. Millie told the kids to eat gorilla cheese sandwiches! – Azuree
It’s supposed to be lunch money, not lunch bunny! That’s why Mrs. Millie is so silly. – Linaya
Egg Scramble
The photo shows what it looked like as the girls lined up; the video shows how real it got when they started running. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdQ9_hGm1Ro&feature=channel
PS: The “trampled” girls were fine. They shook it off and went looking for eggs.
Easter Bounty
The girls find eggs – some hard boiled and some candy-filled – on the Girls Inc. lawn.

HIV/STI Conference Not ALL Work – Some Fun Planned, Too!
All work and no play makes Jaynesha dull girl! After the educational sessions, the teens were treated to a DJ and some (supervised!) dancing.
At the end of the conference, there were goodie bags for all to take home with prizes, snacks, and, of course, all of the bags included some print materials with more medically accurate information as well as information about community resources for reproductive health. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJ2ShPLctD0
A Book About Doves. And some tunes.
The girls toured the South O library. They learned about all of the library resources and how to get help to access them. After their tour, they had a read aloud and a related craft activity. Each girl got to keep a set of colored pencils and a pencil sharpener. Bonus!
The book they read was about doves. What do you think of when you see a dove? Check out this video to see the girls’ responses (spolier alert: “Peace Out!” is the best response. “An owl” is tied for second best, right up there with “A bird.”) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5g_euXn3Cw
What do girls like to do while they work on their craft activity? Justin Bieber fans, click here to find out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bGkicplJNw.
