I’m writing a book for school.  No pictures – just words.  I’m getting help from the tutor.

A Girl’s Day

It was so much fun trying on the dresses and then looking in the mirror.  This is something I can do all day.  It was nice to see the expressions on the other girls’ faces.  Everyone got the dress they wanted and put it to work.  It was such a coincidence we received the dresses at this time because homecoming and prom are right around the corner.  We are all beautiful young ladies and this was a step to building our self-esteem; looking in the mirror, hearing the compliments from other girls, and taking something valuable home.  It was a girl’s day and a special moment.

We took a picture and we all looked like magnficent divas.  Trust me; I appreciate this more than words can explain.  The day I put on that dress, some accessories, and heels – I will make it a happy ending.  Oh yes, I felt like a princess.

Honors Night

I think Honors Night was fantastic.  It was bigger than ever and it was so nice to see all of the new faces being recognized for their achievement.  And I think the message gets across.  You could hear all of the girls ‘ooh’ing’ and ‘ahh’ing’ over the cash awards as they are announced.  Girls are giving each other a high five and saying, “I’ll be up there with you next semester.”  It is also great to see the little girls who have been saving – penny by penny! – get their rewards.

Ms. Tess:  “Zaterria, what’d you do today at Girls Inc.?”

Zaterria:  “Be good.” (hahahahahaaa…)

Cinderella

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to even get to try on a dress and pick out the one that not only fitted me, but also made me feel beautiful in my own way.  At first, I was nervous that I would not find a dress that fitted me the way I like my clothes to fit.  When we walked in the room the dresses just stood out.  They were glamorous!  Something that would have all the heads turning my way wondering, “Who is that?”  I grabbed a dress and ran into the back to change.  I loved it, it was my favorite color (pink) and it made me feel like I was in a movie and my prince charming was outside the door waiting to slide on my glass slipper.
